Superstition collected all the memento mori motif pieces Gisela Brünker-Perez, Luis Bruna and I had, whether they were paintings, glass work, graphite drawings or photomontages. Since we all three are Chilean, the connection we could make among our works was instant. The portrayals of death in the place we come from, Latinoamerica, is rampant and formative, although not necessarily a negative thing, because of that, we prepared some of our typical food for our guests and shared good music and stories.
The artworks presented are ”In the Flat Field” (oil on canvas, 40 x 40 cm), ”Memento Vivere” (graphite on paper, 30 x 20 cm) and ”Life on Mars Ain’t Just a Song” (graphite and ink on paper, 20 x 20 cm), respectively.
The exhibition took place in imLaden, managed by Gisela Brünker-Perez (and Frank Warneke) during the winter of 2023 (10.11.2023 – 08.12.2023).
